General Questions
-
Nexus Connect Lab is a hardware and software offering that provides a digital solution for full-arch implant data acquisition, design and final prosthetic.
Labs enquire and purchase a Scan Gauge Kit to get started restoring All-On-X cases, fully-digitally.
Note: Prosthetic production is not available in all regions.
-
Scan Gauge Kit’s (SGK’s) are advanced horizontal scan bodies that allow for precision implant capture using an Intra-oral scanner.
-
Nexus Scan Gauge scans have achieved a mean linear deviation (inter-implant distance) of <10microns.
This makes Scan Gauge scans one of the most accurate full-arch data acquisition methods.
Scan Gauge data is well under the threshold of clinical acceptability for full-arch prosthetic production.
With over 10,000 arches restored using this technology, Nexus has become a world-renowned treatment solution.
-
Nexus Connect Lab is designed to streamline the full-arch prosthetic workflow for clinicians and labs.
This is done 100% digitally, for labs that aren’t well-versed in digital data acquisition, intraoral scanning, CAD/CAM etc. It is not advised to begin the digital journey here.
Workflow
-
Nexus Connect Lab offers a range of services.
Clinicians perform implant scans using the Scan Gauge Kit provided by the lab - These scans are verified chairside with the analyzer tool.
Successful scans are then sent to the lab inbox along with an order, the lab then determines how to progress the case.
This can be an export of the abutment position file for Immediate design, or progress to a final titanium bar order.
The choice is the labs.
-
To begin restoring digitally using Nexus Connect, you require an account and a Scan Gauge Kit.
SGK’s are available on Multi-Unit Abutment only - See compatibility chart her.
Scan Gauges must be used with validated intraoral scanners - See validated list here.
-
The Nexus Scan Gauge technology works due to a high-standard of data accuracy and repeatability.
Validated scanners go through a rigorous process to ensure they consistently perform correctly under the full-arch application.
If a non-validated scanner is used, the scan data may not be accurate and therefore may result in a prosthetic misfit.
It is the users responsibility to ensure a validated intraoral scanner is used.
-
Yes, Nexus Connect can export abutment positions that the lab can bring into Exocad, 3Shape or other CAD software.
This process is similar to photogrammetry systems with the added benefit of OEM scan body libraries and healing caps at export.
Immediate protocols (like those used with Nexus iOS) are not currently compatible with Nexus Connect.
-
The only barrier to getting started is that Nexus Scan Gauges must have regulatory clearance in your region.
SGK’s are cleared for use in the USA, Canada, Australia, UK and the European Union.
See the complete list of available regions here.
Any lab can get started using Nexus Connect by requesting an account and purchasing a Scan Gauge Kit.
It is recommended that users are familiar with digital full-arch design before beginning.
-
Yes, the decision is up to the lab.
As an example;
Some clinicians may have a “permanent loaner” onsite to use at their discretion. Other clinics who do less frequent cases may borrow a kit from the lab when necessary.
Scan Gauge Kit management is at the labs discretion.
-
Nexus Connect is designed for dental laboratories - If you have an onsite lab and a digital-focused technician then Nexus Connect may fit well.
With Nexus Connect, the technician is responsible for various parts of the process, ie. design, milling of overlays, cementation and finishing.
Therefore it is the labs use of the system that is critical.
For clinics without an in-house lab, Nexus iOS may be a better all-in-one solution.
-
Nexus Connect Lab offers pay-as-you-go and plan options to suit various user needs.
Due to different regional costs, enquire to have one of the Osteon Medical team members contact you for more information.
Plans & Cost
-
Yes, Nexus Connect offers entry-level pay-as-you-go options.
Only get charged at the time of order or export. This ensures peace of mind for labs who infrequently produce full-arch restorations.
-
Nexus Connect Lab offers much more then a digital portal and prosthetic choice.
Nexus Connect plans are designed to offer users who complete consistent full-arch cases a series of discounts and solution features that ultimately improve user experience and the bottom line.
-
Each plan differs with tier and region. A detailed list of inclusions is available before payment.
In general, plans offer credits to redeem various full-arch case services.
These can include implant exports, case designs and milled Nexus bars.
Other
-
Nexus iOS is a full-service full-arch solution used directly by clinicians.
Nexus iOS was introduced in 2020 and has since been responsible for the restoration of over 70,000 implants.
The same scanning technology, milled prosthetics, and scanning hardware underpin Nexus Connect, now offered to dental labs.
